How much screed do I need?

Screed is worked out the same way as concrete — area × depth — but it’s laid much thinner than a structural slab. A bonded screed is typically 40–50mm, an unbonded or floating screed 65–75mm or more. Enter your floor area (or length and width) and the depth, and the calculator gives the volume in cubic metres, plus a small 5% allowance.

How deep should floor screed be?

It depends on the type: a bonded screed (stuck to the slab) is usually 40–50mm, an unbonded screed 50mm+, and a floating screed over insulation typically 65–75mm. Underfloor-heating screeds have their own minimums. Your floor build-up sets the figure.

Do you supply ready-mix screed?

Yes — we supply floor screed across Greater Manchester and Cheshire, mixed fresh on site and pumped in where access is tight. Tell us the area and depth and we’ll quote the volume.

Volume = area × depth plus a 5% allowance. A guide only — confirm quantities and screed type for your job.
