Before every job we take a proper look at how we’re going to get the concrete where it needs to go — can we barrow it, or do we need one of our pumps? That’s what this site visit was about.
This one was a deep, steel-reinforced footing dug right down below the building and tight up against the brickwork. With the footing that far down and boxed in by the wall, there was no barrowing it and no getting a wagon near — the only way to reach it was the boom pump, up and over and straight down into the trench.
That’s the beauty of running our own pumps: whatever the access, we’ve got a way to get the concrete exactly where it needs to be.
“On this occasion, the only way to get the concrete to site is the boom pump.”
We look at every job first – how far the concrete has to travel and whether a wagon or barrow can reach it. If access is too tight, too far or too deep, we use one of our pumps. On this footing, the boom pump was the only way in.
Yes – the boom pump reaches up and over obstacles and drops the concrete straight down into deep or reinforced footings a wagon can’t get near.
Deep footings, back gardens, over walls or buildings, and any site where a wagon can’t reach and barrowing isn’t practical.
