Concrete Floors for the Fury Family Bungalow Refurb, Gawsworth

Gawsworth, Cheshire — near Macclesfield

A Saturday afternoon job to finish the week off — all the concrete floors laid in a refurb bungalow in Gawsworth, Cheshire (near Macclesfield), for none other than the Fury family.

With the bungalow stripped back and damp-proof visqueen membrane laid across every room, we got the volumetric wagon on site, ran the concrete in, then went over the slab with a theodolite to get the levels spot-on across the whole bungalow. With experienced lads on the barrows we could get the concrete into the tight spaces with no fuss.

Started at 12:30, job done by 3:30 — three hours flat from arrival to a level, finished floor. Tyson popped by to say thanks at the end, which made for a nice end to the week.

Concrete floors for bungalow refurbs — FAQs

How do you get the floor levels right across a whole bungalow?

We use a theodolite to shoot the levels across the slab as it goes down — that way every room comes out at the same finished height and the slab’s dead-flat ready for the floor build-up on top. Especially important on a refurb where rooms join up at slightly different existing levels.

Can you lay concrete floors in a refurb with tight access?

Yes — we use volumetric wagons that mix on-site and then barrow the concrete into wherever it needs to go, even through narrow doorways or around partitions. Experienced lads on the barrows make tight-access pours straightforward.

How long does it take to concrete the floors in a small bungalow?

This Gawsworth bungalow refurb — multiple rooms with the visqueen already down — was done in 3 hours flat (12:30 to 3:30 on a Saturday afternoon). Time on site depends on access, room count and how much barrowing is needed, but a typical bungalow refurb is a half-day pour.

Do you cover Gawsworth and Macclesfield?

Yes — we deliver volumetric ready mix concrete across Gawsworth, Macclesfield, Knutsford, Prestbury, Holmes Chapel and the wider Cheshire / Greater Manchester area. Our Knutsford depot is just up the road.

Do you only do small residential jobs?

No — we do everything from a half-cubic-metre garden base up to large commercial pours. See residential concrete for home jobs and commercial concrete for trade work.
