Crack Control · Added Durability

Fibre Reinforced Concrete in Manchester & Cheshire

Concrete with fibres mixed through it for better crack resistance and durability — ideal for floor slabs, driveways and industrial flooring, mixed fresh on-site.

Fibre reinforced concrete has polypropylene or steel fibres mixed evenly through the concrete. The fibres help control shrinkage cracking and add toughness and durability, distributing stresses through the slab rather than letting cracks open up — useful wherever a hard-wearing, crack-resistant surface matters.

Barrow Mix supplies fibre reinforced concrete fresh on-site across Greater Manchester, Cheshire and the North West, with the fibres batched in to your spec by our volumetric wagons.

What fibre reinforced concrete is used for

  • Floor slabs and ground-bearing floors
  • Driveways and external slabs prone to cracking
  • Industrial and warehouse flooring
  • Hard-standing and yard slabs
  • Anywhere added crack resistance and durability help

Why fibre reinforced concrete

Better crack control

Fibres distributed through the mix help resist shrinkage and stress cracking, for a more durable, longer-lasting surface.

Polypropylene or steel

We batch in the fibre type your spec calls for, mixed evenly on-site for consistent reinforcement throughout.

Mixed fresh, only pay for use

Volumetric mixing to BS 8500 — the exact quantity and spec your job needs, with nothing wasted.

Fibres complement, and in some applications reduce the need for, traditional steel mesh — your engineer will confirm what’s required. See our full concrete grades range.

Fibre Reinforced Concrete — FAQs

What is fibre reinforced concrete?

Concrete with polypropylene or steel fibres mixed evenly through it. The fibres help control shrinkage cracking and add toughness and durability, distributing stresses through the slab.

Does fibre concrete replace steel mesh?

Fibres improve crack control and in some slab applications can reduce or replace the need for traditional mesh – but it depends on the design. Your structural engineer will confirm what’s required; we batch the fibre concrete to that spec.

What’s it best used for?

Floor slabs, driveways, industrial and warehouse floors, hard-standing and yard slabs – anywhere added crack resistance and durability are valuable.
